1999, Porkkala
The first test deployment of WaveRoller occurred in 1999 off the coast of the Porkkala peninsular in the Gulf of Finland. Water was pumped to the shoreline by the actions of the waves, thus demonstrating in practice the potential of the technology to harness ocean waves.
