The award to full certification of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System is the result of an extensive two-day on-site review of the company’s procedures, processes and evidence of robust audit trails. Naturally all of us at AW-Energy are delighted the company has received its re-certification of ISO 9001 by DNV – one of the leading global providers of accredited management systems certification and training.
Holding the ISO 9001 standard certificate allows us to demonstrate to our customers, investors, suppliers and industry, that we provide wave energy products and services that meet their, and regulatory or legislative, requirements and that we are committed to continuously improving the way in which we work. Achieving re-certification shows that we are consistently working within the requirements of the standard to provide reliable and sustainable services which put the customer at the centre of everything we do.
It provides us with clear and effective processes and procedures that fully support our company objectives. It acts as a training aid for new starters to gain a better understanding of how their role fits within the business and the interaction between other departments. As an integral part of our business strategy and performance, ISO 9001 allows us to streamline the ways in which we work and outline processes for everything we do. Certification ensures our work processes are performed consistently and the best ideas for improvement aren’t held by one person or one department, but are ingrained in the business .
On a professional level in my role for the business, ISO 9001 helps me better manage projects because the processes make it clear where to find information and how to manage the deliverables. Across different teams we work together under the process approach, because we see increased efficiencies as resources are used more effectively. As a result of this increased efficiency we achieve cost reductions and shorter work cycle times. This means we can offer more competitive prices, and deliver more in the same space of time as well as giving our customers more confidence in us knowing exactly what quality of service to expect every time they work with us.
The certification also provides that essential independent in-depth analysis for us and our customers. It helps to provide assurance to all our stakeholders looking to confirm the bankability of our company or our technology or portfolio of wave energy products, such as our advanced wave energy industrial package called WaveFarm that I am currently focused on.
AW-Energy’s WaveRoller® WaveFarms are one of the most advanced wave energy technology solutions available in industry. The WaveFarm project is created by AW-Energy and funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund that has created an industrial package comprising the WaveRoller® wave energy converters, all WaveFarm infrastructure, logistics, life-cycle services, product documentation and everything else that a customer needs to produce indigenous stable renewable energy.
Working to quality ISO standards is not new to AW-Energy. The company was originally certified to the ISO 9001 standard in 2016 and again in 2019. The requirements of the standard have changed during this time with the latest requirement for a quality management system being more customer centric. The standard sets out the framework for constantly pursuing excellence to make sure our processes are fit for purpose, and we satisfy our customers.
Holding ISO certification allows everyone at AW-Energy to continually monitor and manage quality across our business to identify any potential areas for improvement and ensure the business operates as efficiently as possible with smart processes.
AW-Energy is one of the renewable industry’s front runners in ensuring its technology and the way the company operates is regularly assessed by independent third-party risk and assurance providers.
We’ve worked hard to achieve this re-certification, and we’ve done so with unwavering commitment to make our business the best it can be. It’s further evidence that we are at the top of our game across our industry with a transparent programme in place to make excellence an everyday, sustainable objective.
This latest ISO 9001:2015 re-certification lasts until 2025.
